The General Union Joins Forces with FISA

La Fédération Indépendante Des Syndicats Autonomes Joins Forces with The General Union to Support Newly Organized Workers

Montreal, QC (25 October 2024) The General Union (TGU) proudly announces a major step forward in its fight for workplace justice by affiliating with the Fédération Indépendante Des Syndicats Autonomes (FISA). This partnership equips TGU with over 77 years of expertise in collective bargaining, legal representation, and industrial action.

Central to this strengthened position is access to FISA’s strike fund, which transforms short-term disruptions into sustained struggles capable of forcing concessions from even the most intransigent employers. The fund provides the financial backbone necessary to ensure workers can hold the line as long as it takes to win.

FISA’s support goes far beyond finances. The federation’s extensive network offers tactical training, strategic counsel, and unwavering solidarity across industries, empowering TGU to unite workers from diverse sectors in a shared struggle. With this backing, TGU is set to expand its mission to organize the unorganized and demand transformative improvements in workplace conditions.

With FISA behind it, The General Union stands ready to intensify the struggle, escalate actions, and demonstrate that real power lies in the hands of organized workers united in purpose.
